OS not booting from SSD after restart

So recently I was in the internet watching an NBA game and suddenly my internet froze and then my computer. So I hit the reset button on my PC.
However, upon reset I was prompted by the “Reboot and select proper drive” black screen.
So I cut my PC off, clean it. Unplug every external, the PSU and connections to the motherboard and even move my graphics card into another slot. Still, I get the same black screen.
So I enter the BIOS and only my CD/DVD drive is recognized as an option to boot from. Can’t find the SSD anywhere. So I put the Windows 8 installation disk and am prompted with the Install menu but when I click “Install Now” or “Repair your computer” the screen just stays stuck loading.
Is my SSD dead or is there something else I’m missing? SSD is 3yrs old but has always run smoothly. I appreciate any help. This is frustrating.
