When ever I switch on my laptop the windows symbol shows and that's it. I tried bootrec option but no use. When I used chkdsk it showed 72kb bad sector. Can anyone help me find out solution for this?

Solution
i would still get a new hdd as bad sectors cannot be fixed, they can just be marked as bad and eventually your hdd won't have any good ones to swap in and it will just stop working. Apart from that, enjoy using device while it works :)
Did you try Start up repair? Its in same advanced menu as CMD is on installer (I assume you using installer to boot?). You could try a system restore, its also in the same menu

is there anything on C drive you want to rescue? try making this on another PC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

If you need to, back up everything you don't want to lose and do a reset. Its in the troubleshoot menu on installer.

If you don't have an installer (and want one), on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB << easier on PC than using the automatic repair menu each time

change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
here you find Advanced startup but I guess you know this menu by now :)

I tried startup repair too it shows blank screen and there is no progress. And system restore says files are corrupted.
I tried it with Ubuntu to rescue data from c but it says cannot access c drive as some files are corrupted.
Well I have to try the last method now and see. What if that method also fails? What to do next?

when chkdsk found those 72kb bad sectors, it couldn't fix them. it just marks them as bad so windows doesn't use them, but it doesn't know what was in that sector so if a necessary file was, it isn't going to work now. You don't really want any bad sectors so its a worrying sign.

I think your best move is get drive replaced and see if you can access any files on drive by putting into another PC as 2nd drive (not boot drive) but it might just slow boot on that PC too.

Oh thank-you for the information provided by you

Hello again...I somehow started my laptop and is running up what should I do after it is completely on. I mean after the desktop screen appears. Should I carry out some tests so that I can find faults while the Os is up and running?

I ran the test and it showed 33 bad sectors. What should be done now? I have backed up all my data. Also checked hard disk for errors using properties....Tools...Check for errors....Scan drive....And so on.
But this also showed no errors were found. What can be done next?
