Our school allows us to buy the Macbook we used through high school, for 300-350$
I like to play games and make maps, for a game called Garry's Mod.
So is there any other laptops out there that will let me make maps for and play Garry's Mod under 350$

what software do you use to make the maps?

the software requirements would dictate what you would need.

I use Valves program called "Hammer"
It shouldn't need much, im running a gtx 260 and I can play and edit maps fine.

i don't know what the specs are for the macbook you have now but if it is plenty good enough, i'd see what the specs are and compare to what you can get within the same budget new.

then you'll know if new for the money would get you more than you have in the mac. should not take long to see what the comparable specs would be today. mac tends to be good hardware so it might be about the same as a cheap new laptop with bottom of the line specs (which is what you'll get for $350 new). but you'll need to some quick searching to be sure
