My 250 GB SATA "C" drive is almost full. I have a spare 250 GB SATA. drive. I want a setup so it appears there is one 500 GB "C" drive. What is the best way to do it?

You can only put two drives in RAID if both drives are so to say formatted or "empty".
In this situation you can either add the second drive and run it separately or save your important files elsewhere and reinstall using RAID 0 or 1
There is only one way to do that, create a RAID 0 array. This will still require you to backup your existing data to a third device and build a new C: volume and restore onto the new volume. This will only work if your motherboard includes a RAID controller or if you add RAID hardware.

Not true - you could create a spanned volume..
I never used them myself.. so don't know if you need clear out your old one fist (I don't think you do.. but don't quote me on it)..but you should always make sure you have a backup before you try anything drastic.
