Out of Memory ERROR!

When I play games like minecraft or battlefield 3,which are a bit older, i get pop out error "Ran out of memory" and it closes my game. I have good gaming PC, something like 4gb ram, gtx 650 and 3.5 ghz AMD quad core proccesor. That computer should run these games really well but i dont know why i get this error, 4 ram is enough for bf3. my friend have almost SAME configuration as i and he is running everything perfectly. I have 64bit windows 7 ( he does too).

what else are you running when you are playing games?

Sounds like you have the windows Swap File or Virtual memory disabled.

You should have as much "Virtual Memory" as you have hard drive space.
Unless your hard drive is full and you have no space left on it.

Start
Control panel
System
On the left hand side Advanced system settings.
Make sure you are on the advanced tab in the pop up window.
Under performance click settings.
Click the advanced tab.
At the middle bottom Virtual memory, click change.
At the top place click on or place a check mark in the box for. "Let windows manage page file for all drives.
Exit out of all windows and reboot.
