Question "out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource."/Crashes PLEASE HELP

for the past day i've been getting crashes when lauching/playing games. The errors say "Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. exiting...." & "Unhandled exception: EXCEPTION_ACCSESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffff" I've been getting these errors along with constant crashing when playing games can someone please help.
