Outlook express 6 wont open pdf attachment

outlook express works fine, except it wont open pdf attachements. Checked controlpanel/folderalternatives, and pdf is linked ok to adobe reader. Tried run msimn /reg (did not help). Tried storing the pdf attachment to desktop, and THEN open it from there. And now the pdf shows fine !. So it seems I have an oe6 problem. How to fix it ?

It's most likely a security feature in OE to protect you from opening attachments which might be infected with malware.

The protection can be disabled in OE's options which will allow you to view such attachments directly in OE:

In Outlook Express go to Tools > Options > Security tab.
Remove the tick next to "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could be potentially a virus".
Click Apply and then OK.
