When I start walking outside the villages....a ticking sound starts....like
a machinegun....tack,tack,tack...etc.... not a normal sound of the game.
Who knows to solve this?

you can test this by taking off your boots (the sound
will change for barefeet footfalls vs light vis heavy
boots etc).

Is it the sound of your boots hitting the ground?

no it is a kind of sticking sound....very quick like ticking with a knife
against a glass....maybe kind of hardwareproblem with my soundcart?

Sounds like a system problem to me. I've heard of that stuttering sound
problem before when applied to other games, but this is the first time I've
heard about it happening to Morrowind.

I'm just going to assume you've got all updated drivers and game patches.
Dunno what version of Windows you're on, but get into the control panel, and
get into the Audio\Sounds\Multimedia\System icon (whatever works to get into
Audio Properties). Go then into the Advanced audio settings and cut back
the Hardware Acceleration a notch. Try the game again, and if it still
doesn't work, go back and keep cutting it back until it DOES work, or you're
all out of notches.

There are hundreds of possible reasons for skipping\stuttering sounds as
you'll find if you do a quick Google search, but that's the one that I hear
fixed the problem most often.

Sounds similar to a problem I was having. You might try going to the
morrowind sound settings, and turn off direct hardware acceleration,
instead set sound to software mode.

It seems there's a glitch in the way morrowind plays back certain
fire sounds in certain areas, on integrated C-media/Realtek
soundcards.

The Lighthouse in Seyda Neen, torches of the ordinators walking around
outside in Ald-rhun, some wall mounted torches in the vivec cantons,
etc.

I played around with trying to cure it with a mod for a while,
but never got anywhere with it.

Hey! I have this problem too! It doesn't happen all the time, but every so
often when I am in a dungeon, I hear this ticking/creaking sound. It sounds
like wooden beams stretching, like on a sailboat.

I asked some other people and they told me it was the sound of two scribs
humping. I guess it's really my soundcard....

That sounds more like the Dwemer ruins sound effect - if you only get it
in those places, that's what it's supposed to sound like. Old machinery
groaning away, cogwheels turning, that sort of thing.

Nah, that sounds more like <scrit scrit scriiiiiittttt!!>
