Over 100GB of lost space

First picture:

The table grid at the top, the Capacities all add up to 600GB.
At the Bottom middle left where it says Disk 0, it all adds up correctly to 698GB.
So basically, what is missing is 100gb from the C drive.

Second picture:

The space also adds up to nearly 600GB.

So there is 100gb or so missing from the C drive.

I remember splitting my harddrives and adding/subtracting and transferring from one to another etc.. Then if i remember correctly, i force shutdown my PC while it was doing a transfer and i lost it that way. This happened a year ago.

For some reason it says Programs is 245 when it should be 343 Try running a FULL check disk on the C drive. Best way to do this is

Start - CMD In search and press enter
type

Chkdsk c: /r

it will say it can't and if you want to do it on reboot. Press Y for yes and restart.

It may be that there is a problem with the file system. The reason why you should the /r and not the /f is that the /r also VERIFYS Data AND Free Space. So something may be up there. Will probably take an hour or so do to a check disk on that. Let me know how it turns out!

Hmmm this is odd indeed. Do you have another PC you can put it into and see if that PC shows the same size settings that this one is showing?

if you run a freebie program called FolderSize, and have it scan the C drive, what does it tell you? is there some folder that's stealing 100G of space that somehow Win is refusing to report elsewhere?

Okay mate, i have done this and it is not showing where the 100gb is coming from.
It is showing that 184gb is being used in the C partition.

can you toss up a screen-shot of it? the only thing i've seen that uses space but gets reported as 0 size is the WindowsImageBackup folder from doing system images / backups...

yea don't think this is an issue of a folder taking up too much space. Something is causing it to not display the correct partition size.

It's funny. been watching House MD for a few weeks now, and when it comes to PC problems i feel like i don't want to stop till its solved XD. I'm going to do some more searching. Best think to help out is if you could get that hard drive in another PC and see if it shows the same issues.

Ok so pretty sure the issue is with the MFT. Its not reading the correct partition table size. Which explains why in disk management (where it picks up the size from the partition it self) and Explorer (Which picks up the size from the MFT)

Also why do you have 3 partitions all showing as M drive?

A way to fix your issue may be to Image the C drive, Delete the partition, and then reimage it and see if it will correctly display the partition size.

EDIT: I've searched up on imaging, and if i do that and then delete the C drive, my pc won't function xD?
