Hello,

My PC Configuration:

  • ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
    AMD FX 6100 CPU
    Corsair Vengeance DDR3 - 4GB x 2 (Part #CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 on both)
    ATI Radeon HD 5400 1GB
    Windows 7 Professional x64
I noticed that out of 8 gigs total installed memory, only 3.98 Gb is usable and 4114 MB is hardware reserved.

Tried the standard troubleshooting methods like making sure that the 'Maximum Memory' is unchecked and even set the DisablePageFileAtShutdown to 1 but nothing helped.

Link to my motherboard model - https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/

Current BIOS version installed is 2101, 02/12/2014

I am using the installed GPU for graphics and not the integrated one.

The only anomaly I noticed is that the above RAM part# is not listed on the MoBo manual at - http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A78L-M_USB3/E8017_M5A78L-M-USB3.pdf

Searched with the part number and it found nothing.

Could this be the issue or something else?

Thanks

Since you have a 64-bit CPU and 64-bit OS, and 2 identical RAM modules, it should work... in theory. In practice, strange things can happen. Try reseating both RAM modules and make sure they are in corresponding slots as per manual for dual channel operation. Test each stick individually with memtest if still no luck. Reset CMOS and see if it helps. As a final step, try testing with a different memory brand, there might be compatibility issues.

Correct. One of the sticks probably did not have a perfect contact somewhere. This can occur in every system from time to time, due to heat building up within the case and then cooling after turning the computer off, as this naturally causes the components to expand and shrink, and even a tiniest amount of it can sometimes create a loose connection. Reseating usually fixes the issue ;)
