Over Clock Athlon 900

Dear all,

I've bought a new Atholon 900 (100*9). However, I've heard that new Athlon CPU locked the overclocking by some mechanism. We need to use a pecil to short some pins in the CPU. Where can I find such information?

Best regards,
Teres

try the following link

<A HREF="http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/01q1/010115/pcsystem-04.html" target="_new">http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/01q1/010115/pcsystem-04.html</A>

and also cover the pencil marks with some normal sticky tape so that the tape doesn't touch the cpu die, this will make the pencil marks stay there forever.

If your willing enough, invest in some arctic silver and use a needle to apply the arctic silver as the link above will show, this will surely unlock your cpu, be careful though, you may link the wrong L1 cahce pins.

Oh yeah good lighting and a magnifying glass should help as well.

Thanks for your information and I've overclocked the Athlon 900 to 1G Hz easily. However, I found the Bios couldn't recognise the CPU if change the multiplier to 11, i.e. 1.1G (100*11) Hz eventhough increased the core voltage to 1.85. Do you or anyone have any idea?
