Over clocking gtx 970

So, I just finished building my first pc, and went in to move to overlook my gpu. I have valley, heavwn, and furmark to benchmark. I am using msi afterburner to adjust clock rates and voltage. My problem is that I can over clock my gpu, but I can even max out everything, 1000 core clock 1000 memory, max out viltage, and it doesn't differ at all from if it was all base. I used gpu z to make sure it was actually changing and it was. I have no idea where to go from here.

Are you making sure to hit "Apply" down in lower right corner? You can also save it as a profile.
