Over clocking

I currently have:
Antec 900 case
Antec H100 water cooling
asus z77 motherboard
Intel i7 3770k ivy bridge
24gb corsair ram
Nvidia gtx 680sc
thermatek 850w power supply

I wanted to try over clocking my cpu but a little foggy on where to start. Any help would be highly appreciated. I'm currently running at 3.5 in normal or 3.6 in turbo mode.

Ok keep in mind Ivy bridge hates voltage... If Offset mode voltages seem confusing, set it to fixed mode...

I'll still be able to over clock it to 4-4.2 from 3.5 in fixed mode?

Yes, just make sure to test properly with Prime95 in between bumps in voltage and multiplier.

Start with a fixed 0.900v at stock multiplier. Then increase multiplier, testing with prime95 for atleast half an hour while keeping in eye on temps...

As soon as you get an error or are unable to get into windows, increase the voltage by 0.050v...

Continue the process...

Do I just increase the multiplier by .1=1/10mhz or should I increase in bigger quantities?

Wait a minute. CPU core multiplier? Stay away from BCLK... For example : Stock is x35, bumping it to x36 would add 100Mhz...

O alright. I think I understand now. Since I'm 3.5 right now my multiplier is 35. So just gradually increase like 36, then 37 and so on till the computer turns off and then go back and bump up the voltage by 1 selection until it becomes stable?

Correct, but run halfhour prime95 between each step while keeping an eye on temperature with realtemp.

But you can skip to 4.2GHz(x4.2) on 1.2v voltages, start there.
