So I was building a new computer yesterday with my mate who does it very often put all the components together fine had no issues went to turn it on and it came up with a black screen with the message: over current detected on your usb device system will shut down in 15 seconds. So we disconnected all usb devices still nothing, removed the front usb from the motherboard still nothing, checked all the USB at the back for damaged or bent pins they were all fine as the motherboard was brand new. Read all the forums and none of the solutions helped. In the end I assumed it was just a faulty mother board, I was using MSI Z170A Intel Skylake M5. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same frustrating experience.

Can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your connected peripherals and audio equipment? You may also want to observe and note if all your stand offs are installed and that your motherbaord isn't making contact with the chassis. What does breadboarding reveal? Does it boot up?
Have you tried removing CMOS battery from motherboard for at least 15 minutes before replacing it?
You may also want to try and flash your BIOS with that found off of MSI's product support site.
If you're yet within warranty, you may want to contact your seller and MSI to initiate an RMA procedure.
