I recently built a pc for gaming. My components are an i5 4690k , msi z97 gaming 5 mobo , asus gtx 960 4gb. I did not install an operating system yet. Every time I turn the pc on , i go into the bios and let it idle. After a few minutes , the cpu temperature rises , the video card also heats up and then shortly after the screen shuts off . I tried mutiple times re applying thermal paste and re installing the cpu cooler with the stock one and with an evo 212 fan. I don't know what to do anymore 🙁

I build it 4 days ago and have yet to get past the bios.

Solution
Rip the video card out and try with integrated video

Also check you have actually seated the hsf correctly - you should be able to pull at it and it should not lift or move in any way shape or form

All cpus heat up in the bios (usually to around ~50ºc for stock hsf) which is normal (no idle functionality) btw
