What scenario would be best for overall performance in Videos, music, skype, streaming, and video games?

2 X 670's

2 X 680's

or

1 X 690?

I'm writing this on a 120Hz monitor, and I can also tell you that it's amazing. And noticeable.

OP:

Unless you're buying three full HD monitors, a 120 Hz monitor, or, quite possibly, three 120 Hz monitors for surround 3d (*lusts*), anything you named is pointless.

A SINGLE GTX 670 will max out basically any game at 1080p and 120Hz - those that can't be maxxed out are those in which you can turn down very minor settings to get the same effect. (Such as supersampling in the Witcher 2, which has no visible effect at 1080p.)

Also, I suspect these are options in a pre-built computer. Is that correct? If so, talk to one of us about making a custom one. It'll be MILES cheaper, give you just as good (or better) performance, and not be a...

2x 680 is the best performance setup you have in that list.

but all of it is going to be WAY overkill for what you want (apart from games)

a video card under $100 will do, Videos, Music, Skype, Streaming just as well as the $1000 setups you have listed.

the ONLY thing those setups will do better is gaming

The only place you'll see a difference between the 3 is gaming and the 2x680s would have a slight edge. 2ND would be the 690 followed very closely by the 670s. Depends on the resolution aswell. The only notable differences will be at high resolution multi monitor setup. With a single monitor its overkill for current games.

Videos, music (why a graphics card?), Skype, Streaming are all going to be Identical. 2x 680s will likely give the best benchmark scores and the 690 give the best overall gaming scores. As hard as Nvidia has worked on SLI it isnt perfect. The 670s will represent the best value (by far)

WOO 6 FPS SLIDESHOW.

I'm going to assume you meant 60 fps, and if you are, you are dead wrong. I played on a 120hz monitor for at least a day, and I could DEFINITELY tell a difference. The difference was so extreme that when I went back to my 60hz monitor I couldn't play first person shooters for at least a week.

The thing is, obviously the 680 SLI is better. Is it more practical though? Most definitely not. The 690 would be much cooler, quieter, take less power, look nicer imo (subjective), and there are much less hassles. Honestly, out of those, I would go for a 690, for the simple reason of just how much easier it is to work with.

It will be a custom built PC. I will post the list of items i will be getting, critique it if you want :) lol I will be getting a 120hz monitor / tv to hook up to the PC of course.

This is the build, for the most part, i am buying / building in february / march so changes may occur due to price drops and such and depending if i like windows 8 or not for an OS

The RAM is going to be 16g and not 32 that was a misclick and im too lazy to change it lol

The Case i just LOVE so im not changing it lol

If you're building in February, you shouldn't start planning your build now. The next gen cards are going to roll out by that time. They will be more powerful. So it is best to wait and see. In fact, you will be changing a lot of stuff in that list.

They are less practical for the reasons I listed. Hotter, louder, take more power.
