Building my first gaming pc.
I already bought windows 8.1 ( Mainly I would be able to upgrade the mobo or hardrive without buying another OS in case you were wondering why 8.1, plus I actually don't hate it so much like many people do.)

List of the specs will be on the bottom, I don't plan to overclock considering this is my first build.
I aim for 1080p (FPS Avg: 27-40 fps is the goal for me, don't care to max settings out yet medium will do me just fine. I plan to play games like Gta 5, but considering they don't have the requirements out I have to check on forums, compare Max Payne reqs, I also plan to get Far Cry 3 and 4 (haven't played 3 ever nor 4) and a few other titles that aren't Triple A

Is the mobo compatible with this cpu? (It says on Pcpp that it may need an update for Haswell refresh chips)

Is this cpu future proof? (Will it last at least a year for me with what I intend to achieve e.g 1080p medium settings?)

Should I go with an AMD build? (I've been told that the FX series is weaker, but games will use more cores, as of yet, I dunno if this is true, I'm running in the blind here) (I also know that I would get a better upgrade path going this way too, but I don't want to pay $250 within the upcoming months)

If you also have a better list, or a more future proof one by all means, share it in the comment section; but I prefer if it's within range of $500

Like a G3258? I've been looking into that cpu, it's main strong points is its overclocking capabilities. I'm not into overclocking right now though, so that seems moot unless it is a more powerful cpu at stock speeds, then I'll consider.
