Hello to all,

I want to overclock my cpu to 4.2GHz with cpu dropping clock to 3.5GHz when idle...

Here is the spec:
MB: Asus z170 pro gaming
Cpu: core i5 6600k

I have already tried sync all core method which keeps the cpu on 4.2GHz all the time, how can I change the settings to have it drop to 3.5GHz at idle?

Thanks in advance,

Solution
HW monitor (or AI Suite) display correct frequency.
when you checking the frequency, you should not run any benchmarks/stress tests. otherwise you will see the max.
boot the computer, wait few minutes and check the frequency while it's doing nothing

well tried that and the cpu still remains at 4.2GHz all the time...
I'm overclocking using sync all core method and setting multiplier to 42

Well I will search the bios for relevant info!
I'm using task manager, ASUS, HwMonitor....
