Overclock 8700K for new user

Hi guys

Just built a system around the 8700k. I've never overclocked before but I purchased this CPU so I could.

I also have the Maximus Hero mobo and 3200mhz memory.

The CPU is running at 3.7ghz currently as stock what's the easiest way to increase this? And what speed would you recommend? This is a 100% work machine so I need something reliable.

Any tips most welcome.

No chip are the same. No one can tell how much YOUR exact chip can run.

Plenty of overclocking guides out there, all it takes is a quick google search. Anything that applies to Skylake/Kaby Lake (e.g. 6700K/7700K) should be pretty applicable to overclocking your 8700K. As said above, no one can just tell you the magic numbers that will work with your CPU.

Which cpu cooler do you have? If this is a work computer, why do you need to overclock it?

This is a 100% work machine so I need something reliable.

Work machine and OC doesn't really go together.
Bet ready that your pc might freeze or BSOD right in the middle of your most important work.

I get that you can't quote an exact figure I just wondered what a safe bet would be.

I have a AIO water cooler.

Those guys got 5.0 GHz at 1.28V. Guess you could shoot for that.

What is that actual model number of your cooler? Saying "AIO water cooler" is about as helpful as saying "I have an air cooler". Performance of different models can vary hugely.
