Hello, I am struggling with overclock my 8700k to 5ghz, it gives blue screen CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and I am not sure why, I use ASUS prime-a z370 updated to latest bios update.

For Voltage I use 1,35 I tried up to 1,38 and still same
Calibration Line tried from 4 to 6
Up to 140% receiving voltage to CPU
SVID disabled
Multicore Enhancement Disabled
for cache I tried with auto and with 42

Still blue screen, my temps are around 69-80 degrees, my processor is not delided. When I do stress test its all fine, no blue screens, no errors. When I play battlefront 2 is ok, but when I play battlefield 1 or league of legends or cs go bam Blue screen....

Please if someone can help me.

Thanks

I'm on 4.7 now with 1.25 voltage and it works fine for the last week no issues, all perfect.

I have

MOBO - Asus Prime-a z370
PSU EVGA 750G2
CPU i7 8700k
CPU FANS - I'm using EK S240 (Corsair 2400rpm)
CASE FANS 5x corsair 1500rpm
RAM 16gb 3000 MHz
GPU MSI GTX 1080 ti Gaming X
SSD Samsung 960 evo 250gb
SSD Crucial 525 gb
HDD 1tb WD black
CASE Corsair 570x Crystal

On 4.9 ghz t worked fine for 5 days. but then blue screen on the fifth ... with this settings calibration line 4 and 5 and 1,35 V

There is a mistake in the loop which I done I put in in outlet and outlet to inlet to the CPU block but I don't think this is the case because still my temps are not going higher than 80 degrees is worst case scenario. So in next few days I am going to re do the loop and I will fix this issue. But still as I said I don't think this issue can cause the blue screen. what do you think ?

Not all i7s got easily to 5Ghz also they are a bitch to cool under any kind of sustained load. Also you might have to try upping the voltage to 1.40v

Silicon Lottery says
CPU Multiplier: 50
BCLK: 100.0
CPU Vcore: 1.400V
AVX Offset: 2
As of 6/08/18, the top 86% of tested 8700Ks were able to hit 5.0GHz or greater.

This CPU includes our delidding service! Factory thermal paste underneath the IHS is replaced with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. Depending on the workload, this typically lowers peak core temperatures anywhere from 15°C to 25°C.

Btw now I just received my thermal grizzly Kryonaut and i am going to replace my old paste. I am looking for delid tool but the only one available here in UK cost 80+ pounds which is ridiculous

Version 0616 ( PRIME Z370-A BIOS 0616
1. Improve OC performance
2. Improve system stability

i just saw that there is newer one from two days ago

Version 0805
PRIME Z370-A BIOS 0805
Intel New ME Update, Improve Stability.

and new chipset version

Management Engine Interface
Improve system stability.

I delided and Kryonaut with a 3D Printed plastic tool and a hand vice.
Temps did drop 15-20F as expected.

(We used the old CPU as the test subject)

hmm yea but I where I am to make 3d printing I better buy from ebay. there was offer delid mate 2 with grizzly liquid metal for £77

65-70 degrees Celsius on the GPU on 98% usage in battlefront 2 , but the blue screens come with cs go as well and league of legends when the card barely use 10% of its capacity

What version driver?

I need to check later when I am at home but I just updated it few days ago so its the newest one.

Btw do you think I if I uninstall NVidia experience I will get better fps or better performance in games ?

The bluescreen only happens with an OC correct?

You must be using some type All In One cooler which you do not list?

my temps are around 69-80 degrees

Under what load? Prime 95 or Gaming?
Not bad for P95 not great either, but if that's your gaming temperatures they suck!
You can lower temperature by running your memory at the spec'd speed of the 8700K which is 2666mhz if you're running at 3000mhz you're overclocking your CPU memory controller and adding extra heat, that's great if you have the cooling for it.

but I don't think this is the case

You are running the coolant backwards and defeating the design of the water block, there's a design reason it says inlet and outlet! Get that routed properly, ASAP!

My 8700K is overclocked all cores to 5ghz and my P95 vs 26.6 highest core load temperature is 51c
