OVERCLOCK Intel 2.66 GHz DUAL CORE

hi!,
I want to overclock my cpu which is much older now.I find it really difficult to play latest games like Crysis, FarCry 2 etc on my system.
I am new to overclocking hence need your help to overclock the cpu so that i could overcome my system (performance) issues.
It would be appreciated if you tell me detailed steps to overclock the cpu.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:-
Intel 2.66 Ghz Dual Core
Intel D101 Motherboard
1.5 Gb DDR1 RAM 400MHZ
Nvidia 8800GT 512 Graphics Card
500 Watt PSU
I IDE 80GB
I SATA 360GB
3 Cabinet fans
Average system temperature is around 45-50 C

Hope i will i have a stable overclocking.................

You're pretty much out of luck as you have an intel motherboard.
You might get an extra 100Mhz out of it, but that's about all.
Intel motherboards don't support real overclocking. Sorry Tech86.
And yes, read the stickies/FAQ's first, they're full of useful advice and how-to's

^um wtf? intel mobos oc a lot more than nVidia chips, although i admit i haven't ever even heard of that mobo...

OH you mean like stock intel mobos, not gigabyte boards with intel chips... riight

Intel CHIPSETS overclock like there's no tomorrow - starting with teh P35 and X38 and continued with the P45 and X48. and the X58 isn't too shoddy an ocer either! :lol:

nvidia on the other hand...
