Overclock Intel i5 5200U

I know there are many guides available for overclocking but I wanted specific help for overclocking my cpu. I have my CPU running at 2.2 GHz but I can run games like GTA V at only 13 FPS. I want to overclock it to at least 2.5 GHz of the 2.7 GHz limit.

The i5 5200u is a laptop processor. The game is run from the intel hd 4600 I suspect, which is not good for gaming.
Therefor even is possible overclocking won't give more fps.

It sounds like the game is using the integrated gpu. In nvidia control panel you can change this to use the gtx960m.

Tried that and even : Right Click -> Run with graphics processor -> High performance NVidia processor.

Maybe try disabling/uninstall the intel hd driver in device manager, then it should automatically jump over to the nvidia.

wow! when I disabled the Intel Graphics Watch Dogs ran stuttered at the loading Ubisoft screen and it hanged. I got 40FPS there before. And 12 FPS in the actual gameplay.

hmm, is your laptop in power safe mode?

And when you were in device manager did you also saw the nvida gtx 960m driver? or only the intel hd one?

I saw both.
Connected to power, same thing.

if you right click on the 'battery' icon and then power options, there it should show in which mode it is working.

You said you also went into nvidia control panel, so you did this?:
Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Select to use High Performance Processor?
If that didn't work, you can also go to 'program settings' which is found next to Global Settings and select GTA 5 in programs list to use the gtx 960m.

Already done that. Also just now I started GTA V in windowed mode and got 40 to 50 FPS. Is this the best I can expect and in only windowed mode?

If youre using the intel hd then probably yes.
Can you uninstall and then reinstall the nvidia driver? if that doesn't work can you try turning the intel hd completely off in the BIOS?

Before doing that, idk how but GTA ran 55 FPS in windowed mode and lowest settings. Should I continue with reinstall?
Update : Goes down to 48 FPS when driving a vehicle and up to 58 FPS when not driving so successful? (I did not reinstall)

What happens when you play at fullscreen?

And you get more fps in windows mode because there are less pixels to render.

When I play in full screen the FPS drops by 15 or more

Then it looks like your still playing on the intel HD, maybe you can try to uninstall the nvidia driver and then reinstall it?
If that doesn't work you can try to disable the gpu in the bios to see if it works.
