Overclock is not applying to my CPU?

If I am correct the GHZ numbers should change on CPU-Z or HWiNFO if the overclock were successful however, it doesn't seem to change, even after I change it to 4.0ghz.

Any reasons as to why?

I literally up my cpu by one more GHz
how would it not be successful? also why is there no warning that it wasn't successful?

Does core speed and multiplier show a change after you bump the speed with CPUz as admin? If yes then that is what it changed to if not. . . . If the OC failed, too much increase the splash screen pre BIOS screen will show you OC failed. If nothing happens no OC was applied. In that case you aren't applying an OC for some reason.

It may have been successful but the only way to know is to use a program like CPU-Z or run a stress test like Prime 95 and then monitor the core speed using a program like (CPU-Z) or Speccy. I really love Speccy. Your CPU has lower-power states unless you turn it off (C1E, etc). So turn them off in BIOS or leave it on and use a program to stress the CPU and then look at what it's doing. Check temps when you stress it too. Prime95 (Mersenne.org) will tell you if your OC is stable too.
