Overclock is slowing my boot up.

I have a e6600 OCed to 4ghz, raptor HD. My boot time is over a minute now. It used to be under 30 seconds at e6600 stock speed. Is this normal?

Hmm. Have you tried to do any general clean up? Windows XP gets bogged down within a couple of weeks. That might help some. That or look if anything in the BIOS is causing a delay. (BOOT DELAY)

I reset bios. Then I overclocked the super easyway. The ONLY things I changed in bios was the Multipler ,FSB, and linked memory to get a 3.83 OC. It's booting fast again. I'm new to OCing, I hope everything works ok since it's pretty much all on auto by default.

Mutlipler = 8
FSB = 1700
Memory = 1275 mhz (seems a bit high but maybe corsair 8500 can handle it)

Edit - Hmm It's showing different numbers with Ntune system info then in my bios...

FSB = 1912
Memory = 1093

Download and install CPU-Z to get accurate info. (Except voltages, ignore them as they are sometimes off)

Glad you got it fixed! Thanks for the link DaSickNinja/Rwaritsdario! (DaClan - 3lfk1ing)

Hey Ninja - thanks for the link! (I think :) )

In the instructions at the microsoft hotfix, it says:

7. In the Value data box, type 0. Make sure that Hexadecimal is selected in the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, and then click OK.

Note You can type 1 in the Value data box to enable the new performance state policy behavior.

So should the value be '0' or '1'?

Is the fix the "...new performance state policy behavior", thus requiring a '1'?

Thanks!
