Dear

Does anyone know what Crystal & PLL chip is DELL's notebook using on the CPU card?

model : Latitude CPi R400GT (P2-400 mobile on CPU card)

CPU card contains 440BX as well.

Has anyone tried to remove the CPU card? is it easy? I have opened up the keyboard and can see the CPU card where there is a top plate connected to a heat pipe.

Can the CPU card be lifted as is? and easily?

I have downloaded CPUcool9 and is ready to overclock the notebook, but need to know what PLL chip it is using?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

dunno, I have an Inspiron 8000, I can't find the PLL either.
good luck, lemme know if you find it, I'll tell you the same, but odds are we have different clock generators anyway.

Umm- not a good idea to overclock notebooks. Although, it's a cool idea. Those damn things run hot enough. Your playing with fire and that software cooling sucks.

well unfortunatley i work for dell and just thought i would warn you that if anything goes wrong it wouldn't be covered by your warrenty. and if u do succeed in over clocking it the techs at the service depot would know. just FYI a replacement mobo/cpu combo costs $699. just thought i would let u know. this is just a piece of friendly advice that i thought you would like to know before trying to oc it
but i can get the directions for removal of the CPU:

5 — On silver CPU shield. The 3 silver screws are captive and stay on the shield.

Remove the screws and lift off the shield. Place the tongs of an IC chip puller under the white bars on the left side of the CPU. Pull straight up.
mind you this is just for the latitude cpi /x series of notebooks, not the inspirons

Dude that doesn't help me, I have an Emachines laptop and I can't get the damn thing open. (The case itself, not even anything else! Except memory, floppy, battery, etc.)

uh, I'm not overclocking mine right now, I just want to know how to do it, however, I am interested in how Dell would be able to tell I overclocked it?

if sandra doesnt give it to you, anything else that works???? i try it on my desktop and it gave me the information but on the laptop nothing shows
