hi to all!
I am doing my overclock for the very first time in my life (newbie!!), and I am having some problems to do so.

My configuration is:

- CPU: i7 920 with Noctua NH-U12P SE1366
- MB: ASUS P6T
- RAM: 4x2 GB Kingston Value DDR3 1333 Mhz
- VIDEO: Point of View GTX260
- CASE: Antec P180b

I tried do follow OC gides I found online even putting lower settings for BCLK, but when it starts to boot I receive OC error message with two possibilities - load deafault BIOS settings or enter in BIOS.

I thought it could be a problem with my RAM, as I am using @1333Mhz and I saw somewhere that this kind of memory needs higher voltage.
What could be a problem???
Please heeeeelp!!

and sorry for my bad English :)

Interestingly I am having the same problem on my p6t deluxe and was only after flashing to the lastest bio revision. I had perfectly stable 3.5 OC with only changing the BCLK now I have to put everything on stock otherwise I get the OC failed message and dont have time to diagnose the problem right now as I should be studying for a law final on friday. Probably unlikely to be related as 2 different mobos but might be worth looking at your bios revision.

If anyone else has found this with updating their p6t bios I would be interested to hear.

Hi D3LTA09,
I am running the BIOS version which I got with mobo...no update for now, if you asking that...
anyway, It shouldn't be so much difference between my and your mobo thought...
what cooler and CPU you have?

Yep thats what I was asking, just thought if you had just updated might be the prob, in that case you could try updating your bios though. Your right the two boards arent wildly different but they still use a different bios, even the p6t deluxe v1 and v2 have different versions.
I havea a i7 920 and a scythe mugen 2 cooler, theoritically though the cooler shouldnt affect initial stability on an OC only keep temps down and thus increase stabililty under load.

Sorry dont really have much else I can suggest.

thank you very much.
Right now I am still trying to OC my CPU with no BIOS update. I set BCLK to 180 and vCore to 1.225 (just a little bit over default settings) and it seems to work for now...I am testing it right now with Prime95.
Here are my BOIS settings:
CPU ratio 20
BCLK 180
PCIE 101
DRAM freq 1083
UCLK freq AUTO
CPU Voltage 1.225
CPU PULL Voltage 1.8
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage 1.25
DRAM BUS Voltage 1.5 (as written on my RAM)
everything else is on AUTO
One thing is really strange: I have to leave my UCLK frequency to AUTO, otherwise I get OC error no matter which value I put...
I would like to know on what frequency is my memory in that way?
Thank you again

No probs, UCLK is specific to the i7 architecture it referes to the frequency of the North Bridge built into the CPU, that is the memory controller integrated into your CPU. It is determined by your BCLK x what ever multiplier you set it at and it needs to be at least twice your memory multiplier. I have always left mine on the lowest multiplier but presumably auto should do the same, wonder if thats my problem now I have updated the bios. Cant see how changing the bios would do it though.

I don't really know how could bios update do this...
anyhow, I'll do further research on the web about this issue, and I'll do some other settings/tests with my OC and I'll let you know about results

Thank you again!!
