I posted this in the general overclocking section but not getting any responses so i thought i might put it here.I have some old pc parts that i thought i would use to practice overclocking. An Athlon XP 2400+,Asrock K7S41Gx motherboard, generic ram(pc2700)and an old 3gig hard drive. All was going well until the overclock hit the max,the pc rebooted and when it did said the cpu was an Athlon Duron 2000. I have tried reseting the bios, even removing the cmos battery and replacing it with a known good battery. The computer will boot up into windows and run fine,it just says the cpu is an Athlon Duron. Any suggestions? Thanks

maybe you killed some of the cache with the overclock. idk. never seen anything like that. unless it was a case of whoever sold it to you fooled the BIOS (to market a lesser processor for a greater price) and when you reset it it shows what it really is.
