Am I alright where I sit with my overclock...? I am relatively new to overclocking and just want to make sure. I tested it out with MSI Kombustor for 20 mins on the fur test for 20 minutes and ran through it... GPU got up to 63C but did not crash. I do notice in the game (Archeage) I am playing the FPS increases by nearly 20 in open areas, but only increases by about 5-7 in the cities and more graphic demanding areas like the farm zones and such. I do run 2 monitors obviously which i know is double the load on the GPU with the x2 resolutions. Is it possible to OC more? Any input/feedback/ is appreciated. I am trying to get the most out of this card until I hopefully grab a GTX 970 or 960 in January ish.

Also I was just curious as to what I was noticing with the frame time reading on MSI afterburner. Even with higher FPS i was getting some stuttering and noticed the readings were higher on the frametime even though I had above 35-40 fps, mostly in the graphical demanding areas. Is this a game only thing possibly? I run the settings on normal/medium settings. I feel like I should not get into the 20 FPS range with my build, however in the cities and occasionally in the farm areas the fps drops into the lower 20s with the frame time increasing noticeably as well.

About 2-3 weeks ago I swapped to this FX 8350 and it increased the FPS in Archeage noticeably... I understand this game is a processor heavy game, but is it possible my video card is holding me back now?

A test I just did in Archeage: I ran in an open field and was getting an average of 60-85 Fps with an average frame time of 15-25 milliseconds. I ran straight inside to the center of the main city in the game, FPS slowly dropped from the 70s to an average of 28-32 and a frametime of 32-50~+ millseconds.
HERE IS A GRAPH OF THIS TEST WITH FPS AND FRAMETIME. IS THIS STUTTERING NORMAL?
The peak spot is 85 FPS lowest spot think is around 27

Heres another graph with the Min/Max reset. the higher spot in the begining of the graph is starting out outside of the main city. Gradually making my way to the center of it through the graph.

Any input is greatly appreciated thank you. Sorry for the lengthy post

Solution
Yeah your video card is what's holding you back, it simply isn't that powerful to sustain 2x monitors with a stable framerate. You could keep trying to OC it further with 10mhz increments until it gets unstable and then obviously go back to the last stable OC.

So just to test it out. I set the video card back to default settings/speeds. Unplugged my second monitor. And tried Archeage with 1 monitor. The fps does not seem to dramatically increase, however it does somewhat. But what I really notice is the gameplay seems to be much smoother (even with lower fps in some spots) and the frametime seems to be more steady and not hop around so much. I am assuming that without the load of the second monitor I am able to run more steady FPS/Frametimes.

So just curious? How much of a difference in FPS would I notice if I were to drop a GTX 970 in my computer?

I am assuming that I would be able to run 2 monitors with ease.

Man I am tempted to just buy a new case and a GTX 970... I keep telling myself to wait until January... but I'm not sure if thats going to happen.

Which GTX 970 is my best choice here?

I wouldnt mind a superclocked one TBH :)

Well I may go crazy here and just buy this card tonight depending on how I am feeling. It has been one thing after another for my system and these are the last 2 things to upgrade! The case and Video card.
