I have an old cpu/apu which is the A10-7870k. I was wondering what i could do to get more perfomance or more fps in games? Overclocking? Like the ghz? Or the ram mhz??? Also how to do those stuff. I have AMD Overdrive here btw. First timer here 😅

Cpu - Amd a10-7870k
Motherboard - Asrock FM2A88X+ Killer
PSU - Aerocool Strike-X 800w 80+ silver

Solution
Purchasing even a meager GPU will give FAR better results than anything that apu is capable of. Be aware that even at that you might not see great results gaming with that processor in new titles even with a GPU. My experience with a similar chip (a8 7600 iirc) was that adding even a GTX960 resulted in 100% cpu usage much of the time.

IMO if you are looking for instant gratification, add a GPU with future/next build in mind, see where that gets you. Start saving for a new CPU/Mobo/RAM combo.
that is the old apu platform from amd

yes, you can overclock it, but in this case the cpu itself what is easy to overclock will not offer much extra performance, 3 4 fps at maximum, is like get 7 to 10% extra, it is not much really

in alot of games is more important the gpu part, i never overclocked the gpu part on those apus and i ignore if it can be done or what kind of performance upgrade you get but if it can be done, it will be similar to what the cpu overclocked can push

if you feel the need to overclock to get more, it is almost certain that the overclock will not give you what you want with this apu

you will get more by adding a real gpu and overclocking the cpu, but in the end you will need to move to a ryzen r3 or r5
