i have been trying to overclock my q6700 and hoped to get it to around 3.2 or 3.4 ghz. for some reason i can only get it to just under 3 ghz. as soon as i try to increase it to 3 ghz the computer doesnt boot. i was only using stock voltage to overclock and so i tried to increase the voltage by small increments to around 1.3 volts but nothing seemed to work. can anyone give me some suggestions?

cpu: q6700
psu: 600 watt
motherboard: p5n-e sli
4gb ddr2 ram 800 mhz
2x 8800 gt
zalman 9700nt

thanks

i have the same problem with another processor
i cant get 3.2 only 3.0
my ram normal voltage is 2.1
it is safe if i increase it to 2.2 or not to see if my overclock work

i have 2x 2gb ddr2 ram

i found some other threads where people where able to overclock the same cpu to 3.0 with stock voltages with the same motherboard. i cant figure out wat they are doing differently than me

First you need to no what your VID is. Then you got to know what your droop is amd set your vcoer so it dont droop below your vid.

You got a non OC friendly mobo and your volts are way to low on vcore.

thanks for ur help

could u tell me where i could find out what my VID and droop is?
i am not familiar with these

thanks
