Hey i recently tried overclocking my i7 8700 which is a non k and cant be overclocked but i didnt know that when i tried to overclock it. Anyways i tried overclocking it and i didnt see any improvments so i put it back to default. So i am wondering if it damaged my cpu. Keep in mind that i only had it overclocked for 2 hours before i put it back to default

Solution
The only way you could have damaged the cpu was manually setting the voltage (way) too high...even then, your motherboard has protections built in to prevent damaging the cpu.

Unless you really tried hammering that cpu voltage, you'll be perfectly fine.
