Overclocked CPU - reset to default not working

I overclocked my CPU from 4.2 to 4.5 did not see much off a change in gaming performance so I decided to change it back. I reset to default and booted into my PC opened cpu-z and it still says around 4.3-4.5.

anyone know how to fix this?

Hey,
first of all - what system are you running?
second, make sure that your oc in bios is cleared and no software is keeping your cpu oc'ed. if still no luck - remove battery from motherboard, wait half a minute and put it back in. boot to bios, check if everything is set to defoult. boot to win, check if its ok and then again boot to bios and enter your oc settings again.

the weird thing is that everything in my bios is default but in cpu-z and task manager its at around 4.2
