Hello guys ,

I am in the process of building a new pc , and i came up with this question :
Will a g3258 with an Asus H81M-E overclock better than the x4 750k with an Asus A55BM-E or Asus A58M-E ( wich is better btw ), asuming that they both have suficient cooling , such as a cm 212 evo ? I'm afraid that in order for the pentium to really shine , it should be equiped with a really good oc'ing mobo , worth of about 3-times the price of the little poor h81m-e , and even if that is not true -but ithe g3258 must reach like 4.5ghz to get competitive- , I have NEVER oc'd before . This is why , in my opinion , the easiest option would be to get the x4 750k with no aftermarket cooler and oc it slightly , because it is simply so much cheaper for someone like me (because I might not be able to oc ).

I KNOW , everyone is crazy about how rediculously awesome the g3258 is for someone that can oc it to 4.7 ghz , but , what if you are in a budget ?

Or is oc'ing that easy and possible in a 60$ mobo and a 30$ cpu cooler?

I am really confused about that one , the rest of the build is already fixed in my mind , and this the final problem between me and that pc build actually getting built .

Thank you in advance,
sorry for the long text :)

If you have not overclocked before, I would buy based on the scenario that you are not going to OC the chip. However, even in that scenario, the Pentium G3258 comes out as the better chip based on benchmarks at stock speeds.

When we add in the tests with an OC, it is apparent that the Pentium is a much faster chip.

Finally, the Pentium can be OC'd on a budget board.

Yes I have seen tons of comparisons between the g3258 and other cpu's ( even i7's ) that , when oc'd , the pentium is equal with the other cpu (i7 4970k !!!!!) or even WINS more expensive cpus. It is definitely powerfull .
About the mobo , what do you mean by budget board ? Etc. will an Asus H81M-E oc the pentium with stock cooler ?
