Overclocked x3 425 cooling questions

Hey guys,

I am building a computer around the amd x3 425. If I decide to overclock it, will I need a new cooler? Also, I believe (from articles I have read) that this cpu comes with thermal compound already on the chip. Will I need a better quality thermal compound if I overclock?

I'm new to all this, thanks for your help.

Thank you guys. I got the 425 as it was recommended to me for a gaming system in the $800-$900 range under the "home built system" sub forum. Will I see a noticeable different in overclocking this cpu? Or is it not really worth messing with...

425 is very good too. Take it to 3GHz without raising the voltage and check your temperatures.

Well the 425 has already shipped from newegg..... oh well. Will wiping off the mfg thermal paste and applying third party paste benefit me in anyway?
