I've read that it's possible to overclock the refresh rate of my samsung TV to display 120hz. It is rated at 120 motion rate but I know that it's truly 60hz with interpolation or whatever. It is HDMI 2.0 and my gpu is a GTX 1070 so I won't have any data transfer issues. I also read that if I can't manage to overclock it the old fashioned way that I may be able to take the tv apart and plug my DVI cable directly into the display by disconnecting the computing unit from the display unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The model number is UN40NU7100FXZC

IPS panels look colorful with more view for group watching but are more expensive (very expensive if you want quality 60Hz+). If you prefer fast-paced games with 60Hz+, get a separate one. Most people use a normal IPS for general tasks and a TN for fast-paced games.
If you prefer watching movies, VN monitors are better.

Yes I do know this, I'm not looking to push out more than 60 frames on 4K, but really do want it to output 60 frames. If not, I'd really like any resolution lower than that to hit 120 fps (1440p, 1080p) etc.

Try using the Nvidia Control Panel to OC as I said before. On 1080p, if it works, try 1440p. But you're better off buying a cheap 120hz+ TN monitor.

IPS panels I hear are much much better on the eyes though. That's one of the main selling points for me.
