Overclocking a GHz edition HD7870.

It is already at 1000 MHz, so my question is if it is safe to overclock this to say 1200 MHz or more?

*Will add a 1TB HDD in the future. The SSD is for the OS & Games.

I'm a first time builder so any advice on overclocking is helpful.

It's hard to say as each GPU is different, but I have this model and got mine to 1050 MHz GPU and 1250 MHz memory clock. I probably could've pushed it higher but saw some artifacts at a higher rate, backed it down to ensure stability, and then backed it down a hair again just so I didn't cook anything. As far as overclocking advice I found youtube to be my friend.
