[SOLVED] Overclocking a GPU with a CPU thats too weak

Hello all recently I overclocked my gtx 1060 ti 3gb. Not by much but I told my friend about it and he said it will cause even more lag since my cpu ( i5-2500)
Is too weak already. I do know this and my cpu bottlenecks the 1060 by about 20%.
Does it help to overclock if the cpu is already too weak for the gpu at stock or does it make it worse?.

No the overclock wont matter if your CPU is holding back your card.
