Overclocking a monitor?

I heard you can increase the refresh rate of monitors by overclocking them. Is this even safe? How far should you overclock it?

Around 10hz is all you'll get on displayport. You could get a little more possibly, but it would be unlikely. Worth it though.

wut? as far as i've heard you cant overclock a monitor, the only way to get a higher refresh rate is to buy a new monitor with a higher refresh rate.

well, it is possible, but except if you have like a 30hz monitor, it will not make that big of a difference.

You could probably get around 10hz, and so on a 60hz panel, looks a bit nicer.
