Overclocking advice...

Hey everyone. I just finally decided on the hardware to purchase to build a new computer. I basically am a novice as I built a computer 7 years ago and only touched it to put in a new video card and dvd burner. I basically want to do the same thing with this computer, build it, overclock it or do whatever else to make it run as good as it can while being stable, and then not touch it again for 6 or 7 years except to maybe put in video card in three years. So here is the hardware I bought, any advice would be great. Thanks.

You will be upgrading that ram in four or five years but every thing else looks good.

I'd suggest looking on your MoBo maker's support site and looking for an i7 Overclocking Guide" specific to your MoBo.

I am not so much looking for a step by step on how to OC, I know I can find that. I am really looking for suggestions for what to do. I understand GPU's can be OC'd. Should I OC at all, will I gain anything. I can find out how to do these things, I really am just wondering what should or shouldn't I do based on what I bought. Thank you.

Knowing how software bloats over time as new programs come out the x64 native programs are most likey going to use more than 4gb especially in a multi-tasking environment.

go with the corsair dominators you should be able to get a bundle deal with psu or something take it down a few bucks !

its a 3 X 2 package ! He is using 6 gb of ram did you even read the specs?

No I was talking about his ram and one of my friends has a i7 920 rig with 12gb. When running some of his media editing apps the ram usage will hover as high as 9gb while only leaving 3gb for other things.
