So i am wanting to overclock my proccessor to 4.0 ghz on my stock cooler... what cpu voltage do i need to set and is it safe for my motherboard? (I am a beginner at overclocking)

Solution
Looking at MB specs, it supports at least 125W processors so it shouldn't be a problem to at least 4GHz at 1.4v but stock cooler may be biggest hurdle.
Your processor is 95W so there's a lot of room for OC. In my experience, couple of 100 MHz OC is practically invisible but you can try raising CPU multiplier a notch or two until you have to raise voltage for stability and temperatures stay in decent range.

So can i raise the voltage to 1.5v? with my stock cooler? stock clock is 3.8 ghz btw

Motherboard is BioStar TA970
Processor is AMD fx core 6300
The stock clock is actually 3.5 ghz
Would i be able to overclock with the stock cooler at least a little bit?

Solution
Overclock it with normal voltage but i think stock cooler is not sufficient for overclock
My board is m5a97le 2.0 & i oc it under normal voltage upto 4ghz and my temp are 50C under peak !!! U can go upto 4.1ghz under normal voltage but have a look in youtube for how to oc fx 6300
Thankyou
