Hello guys, i need some help here.........

i've a little CPU:
1. AMD X2 4600+ CPU
2. MSI K9 platinum sli mb.
3. 2 gigs in ram Transcend, 2 sticks 1 giga each 667MHz
4. GPU: nvidia gforce 7950GT
5. HDD WD caviar 300 gigs
6. DVD/Rw sony

Well this' my machine, i just want to know if i can, and how to do it, overclock my little pc.

So i want to know if there's some way to unblock my AMD cpu, 'cos: when i enter in the bios, there's a special feature called fv/id (i think), when i can choose an X multiplier for my AMD processor.
Well, the actual speed is 2.4 Ghz, so when i put a multiplier by 13X, the speed will be 2.6 GHz or just another than I want. Well i apply the settings, save to bios and when i restart the pc and enter again to the bios, there's no multiplier set by me, just the fu"·$ default multiplier 12X..... (2.4 GHz, no 2.6GHz).
i'm started to think if i'm doing the things so bad......... because i cannot OC with the multiplier, but when i change the FBS in the bios.... it totally grow ups, even at 2.8 GHz...... that shit rocks man....

Yes, i can play, can listen music, actually.... playing fear at 1440*900 at high settings, with my OC pc.....
but when i try to burn a CD or DVD my PC turns off, and never go back, it stays off.... i have to turn on by myself

what can i do folks???
or teachers???
as you wish i call all of you...

Sounds like burning cds and dvds causes your computer to go unstable. Have you run any stability programs like memtest, prime95, or superpi after overclocking to see how stable it is?

Also what powersupply do you have? could be a problem with that.

well, no i haven't ran any program yet, only everest and cpu-z,
i have a 500W power supply acteck edge system
and when i turn off the OC the f·$$% computer burns like a lighter, so good
actually..... i was burning a dvd and playing NFSMW,
so i dont think is the power supply
any idea????
thanks

What type of cooling do you use? do you have a screen shot of the 2.8 oc? Here's mine although I might be able to get higher with a better MB and ram.

What 4600+ has a 13x multiplier?

Is it an engineering sample?

look my friend. without not even move a finger.............
i need and i want moreeeeeeeeeeeeee
i want to get at 3GHz
help me
here is mine
mine
help me in overclock my machine
i dont want to toast it

I have the 939 4600+ and it wont go over 2.8 with 12hrs prime95 on both cores. It's rock stable at 2.7 though. Does not boot above 2.9...

With regards to the AM2 version, I dont think it's possible to push it that much more than the 939 version... not on air anyways. There are ppl however who have managed 3gigs but none, as far as I know, has shown it to be prime95 stable, not on air.

If you get it prime stable at 2.8 on air, you should be satisfied... not many ppl have that. I believe the memory quality also comes into play here, not sure a 5300 mem will do it.

If you are so desperate to get 3gig then consider a OC'd E6600 C2D rig instead... beats any OC'd AM2 rig.

Ignoring the whole thing about overclocking, the problem with your PC powering off is actually a fault in the motherboard.
I have a pretty similar setup to you, have never overclocked my machine and have the exact same problem.

So basically check your mobo version and hopefully MSI will replace it, and if not change the UDMA mode or if the worst comes to the worst, replace the capacitor yourself.

Good luck.
