Overclocking an Nvidia 780M GTX

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any stable overclocks for the 780M GTX. My laptop is a Vortex IV. The load temp for my GPU is only 75 degrees. So what do you guys think?

Also PC specialist said I will lose my warranty if I overclock. But they cannot know I overclocked if it were software overclocked.


Hope I can see some benchmarks and temps aswell that would be great !

Well, GPU Boost 2.0 auto-overclocks your GPU until it hits a certain thermal limit. So it is always being overclocked, but I don't know if they allow you to raise the thermal limit on a mobile platform. And even if you can, I wouldn't recommend it, as it would be very loud, and it may not be safe for the rest of the components.

Ahh I know that you are able to set the max, as I have seen people do it. But 75 degrees is nothing really, Nvidia don't start underclocking untill >90 celcius. There is even a Vbios flash that allows voltage increases. People are able to get 680 GTX performance out of this. Anyone have any lasting results

still it's a lot for a laptop. anywhere near 80 is cause for concerns on laptops as far as i'm concerned.

its for a laptop. dont forget u could fry ur whole laptop. id not attempt to overclock it unless u got liquid cooling on that badboy if not the risk is not worth it and overclocking isnt covered by ur laptops warranty so if u fry it they might not replace it.

Well They could never know I overclocked it as it would be software overclocked by Nvidia Inspector. One thing I won't do is probably the Vbios unlock. I will look into liquid cooling for laptops, do you have any info on it?

Hey , Well I would'nt say im unhappy about it as it has taken everything ive thrown at it 1920x1080 ultra detail about 50 fps . It's just I was thinking of getting some ENB mods for skyrim and this would really help if I could overclock

i ask only because as mentioned on the posts above it could damage your laptop. if you reason is legit then yes you should go for it. but avoid keeping it overclocked too much. they will be able to tell because they will see the fried gpu or components if/when you need warranty it.

beleive me they got electrical and computer engineers over there. they know there stuff, if somethings been fried cuz of heat or voltage they can smell it a mile away

I understand your points, I was only asking around if someone has taken the risk on this model, before or even if I decide to. If I do I won't change the Vbios in any way I will just use Nvidia Inspector and keep a Close eye. A 1-5 Degree difference isn't substantial really, even if they saw the GPU fried, it could be because of bad thermal paste application or just general BGA failure. You think, xbox 360's and ps3's had bga problems just from thermal stress. So I don't think they could conclude it was my fault. I imagine dust can cause a higher temperature than what my overclocking would do. Thanks for responding guys, It's good to talk to people with knowledge
