Hi, I recently was lucky enough to find a Asus TUF gaming 3090 OC. At first I thought that it could be overclocked as it was marketed as "OC", similar to eVGA's cards. Later, I found out that this is not the case. I feel that I might be able to get of a performance boost in Minecraft with SEUS PTGI enabled to hit 4K 60FPS. How dangerous is overclocking for my card, and would you recommend it?
Many thanks

Solution
Overclocking these new gpus really bring no benefit to the table. Literally we're talking 3/4 fps more. Besides if you're not hitting 60 fps in 4k, something must be wrong. Unless you're running ray tracing maxed.

Even if you don't have a 10900k, you should def hit more than less than 60 fps. Something else must be happening here.

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9...-rtx-3090-oc-edition/index.html#Benchmarks-4K So yea, you'll get AT BEST a total of 3 fps boost. As i always saying, overclocking these days it's just a way to stroke your ego in synthetic benchmarks. Not saying it's your case, im just talking generics here.

Hmm ok, its the Java edition so unlike the Bedrock edition (which is the version in the video) I can't use DLSS or the card's dedicated RT cores. It normally runs at around 50-70FPS, but sits at around 50 at my Jungle base and the framerate gets completely tanked when it rains

Again, i feel something else it's at play here, because even tho RT is a b*** to deal with, there's no way your fps would be that low with a 3090. Again, please post your entire spec, because you might be SEVERELY bottlenecked by the cpu or the psu even.

Hmm ok,

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950x
GPU: ASUS TUF Gaming 3090 OC
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero
RAM: G.Skill 64GB DDR4 Trident Z RGB Neo C18 3600Mhz
Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix AIO
Storage: Corsair Force MP600 2TB
PSU: eVGA SuperNova P2 1000W Platinum 80Plus power supply

Could any of these parts be causing the bottleneck?
