I want to overclock my processor. Now I am not doing it yet and I am going to read the guides and everything but does anyone have any experience with this processor? How far does anyone think that I can overclock this processor. And what motherboard do you recommend to do it on?

I have 5 gbs gddr5 ram.

that thing can oC well, very well actually. that is a favorite among intel fans.

just read some guide, list down max temp and max voltage (so be sure to avoid them)

my advise aside from those, do not OC the ram (ram is connected to the FSB which you will OC). do not oc the ram so that it won't be a factor when it comes to stability. do not push too much, this takes time, esp if you are a beginner.

what is the 5gb?? gpu? as we don't have ddr5 yet, if that is a gpu then i.. anyway, not a factor for CPU OC

turns out the ram is ddr2.

I had mine to 4ghz air cooling, ArthurH had his to 4.25ghz with iced water cooling, what's overclocking dependent for high Q9550 clocks is the rest of the hardware, we were both running ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboards with DDR3 2,000mhz memory.

The motherboard, memory and cooling, will be the limiting factors past your overclocking knowledge of the Core 2 Quad, so what are the missing hardware information, meaning motherboard and memory, exact brand and model #s please?

Hey I just want to overclock to like 3.4 ghz. What kind of ram and motherboard should I get to do this. I just want to spend about 40-100 bucks to overclock this processor. Can you give any recommendations?

would you say the MSI G31TM-P35 motherboard would overclock my processor well with proper cooling?
