Overclocking decreasing performance???

I recently slightly overclocked my AMD64 3400+ to 2.37ghz and then ran 3dmark06 to check it out...My score went up to a 910 (lol...) ...but when i bumped it up to 2.42ghz and ran 3dmark06 again, the score went down to a 865
Anyone know why this is happening???

Did you run 3dmark06 under exactly the same circumstances as in the 1st benchmark where you scored 910? What temperatures does your CPU reach with the overclock?

i did run the 3dmark06 under the same settings as before...im not exactly sure what the temperature is with the overclock, but I do have a temperature sensor attached to the heatsink that ballparks the temperature of the cpu for me and displays it on the case...that reading remains about the same as when I had it at default fsb (~32 idle to ~39 under load)

WOW IM AN IDIOT!!! somehow stupid avg didn't close when i tried closing it...right now i just ran 3dmark06 again and it appears that was it...got a 935...yay...time to keep pushing...thx for reply...
