Overclocking E5200 on ECS P4M900T-M2

Hi guys,

I wonder if any of you could give me suggestion if I could oc my E5200. I run it on ECS P4M900T-M2 (Please dont ask how, but i bought this mobo accidentally). The mobo has some frequency tweaking on its bios but no voltage customization. Currently it's running at 12.5x with 200 mhz. I use stock cooling at the moment.

Any consideration will be very much appreciated.

With no voltage adjustments all you can do is increase the FSB step by step and test for stability (plus keep an eye on the temps). My E5300 is at 3.4 on default voltage.

Thanks man, anyway I already tried to increase the FSB from 200 to 225, but it cannot load the windows, and the system was restarting. Does that means that my mobo doesnt support oc?could a bios update solve this?

ECS motherboards generally do not make good overclockers. Too many BIOS settings are missing.

A while back, I bought a Q6600 from Fry's. They threw in a free ECS motherboard. I recycled my E6600 into it and turned it into a work computer. My OC'ing BIOS options were limited to selecting an FSB - 266, 333, or 400 MHz. Fortunately, my E6600 will run at 3.0 GHz. (333 X 9) on stock voltage.

Maybe a BIOS update will give you more options. But your only choices may be to live with what you have or replace the motherboard.

Consider that VIA p4m900 has limit. It's very stable chipset my laptop has it but for overclocking is limited somewhat. My friend hit a limit at 245Mhz on a Biostar board with penium Dual Core e2160 I think.

Go in smaller steps. A BIOS update may help.
