The fact that i have the same components as that guy who hit 4+Ghz with his 6300 doesnt mean i can do it too.And being lucky when OCing is more important than being optimistic considering the number of things that affect your tries. But maybe you get lucky after all. 8)
PS i would very much like to see how he managed to run DDR2-6400 to those bus speeds.
I forgot to mention that he's running on
dry ice ^__^
Not your "average" rig
😛
He mentioned that he was only able to run abour 520-540FSB on air. Then after he used dry ice with copper tubing and foam shielding for motherboard, then he could get up to 4.1Ghz. And he's using Asus P5B, I'm using DS3.
And you are correct; every overclocking is different. Every CPU, every memory stick, every motherboard is different. If one is lucky enough to hit certain speed, the other person with the same exact parts model is not guaranteed to be able to reach the same result.
He's using Team xTreme memory sticks.
Memory sticks from that company tends to really really overclock very well. Google it. Team Group DDR2 5300 (266MHz) has been reported to run up to DDR2 1100 (550MHz).
I've tried Team Group memory sticks, but unfortunately I bought the one
WITHOUT micron D9 chip. It won't even run past its spec. So make sure when you are buying Team Group memory sticks, make sure they have Micron chips =)
My Patriot is branded as PC2 8500, DDR2 1066.
But actually, it's a Patriot PC2 6400 (DDR2 800),
BUT hand-picked to run at PC2 8500.
in my screenie, please take a look at the CPU-Z info on the memory :
My "DDR2 800" is able to run DDR2 1200.
I'm trying lower CAS this weekend, hope I can get tighter timing at DDR2 1200
Micron chip > all
