I have an ASUS Z170-A mobo, along with a 6600k (no longer overclocked). For the past few months, I have been having issues playing games where the computer will completely freeze and crash. After rebooting I am greeted with the common 'overclocked failed' message. My computer is no longer overclocked, it was, but I brought it back down after getting this message over and over again, and it is still continuing. I have brought down the RAM back down to the manufacturers level and set everything to default in the BIOS. I have heard that resetting the CMOS might help on the motherboard, could someone confirm if this is a valid path, or are there better options available in the BIOS? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
