Hello all. I recently changed my CPU from an AMD 8320fx to and AMD 8350fx on a ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD Motherboard. With the 8320 I had no issue using the Asus High Performance option (I believe that is what it is called, if not then it is something very similar) in EZmode in the bios. When I put in the 8350 however I have been getting an "overclocking failed" error on startup when I try to put it in that mode. It boots fine on the normal setting but I am afraid I am not getting the most out of my hardware like this. The CPU is always at 4000 mhz but I know it can boost higher and I have not been satisfied with performance recently while playing games.
I have never had any experience with overclocking, havent even ever tried. I have 16 gigs of 1600 mhz ddr3 ram installed, a 3 gig 1060 video card and a 750w psu. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this issue? When I first booted in to the bios today the rams frequency was set to 1477mhz (or something close to that) for some reason. I went in to advanced mode and set it to 1600 when I noticed. The CPU was also at a strange number (something like 4177) until I set it the ai tweeker to auto. Then after a restart it was at 4000. I tried to boot it in high performance mode once again but still no luck.
The last bit of info I noticed was when I would click save and reboot after turning on high performance mode my monitors would go blank and my keyboard would turn off but the fans and lights inside the pc kept running. It never would actually restart itself. I left it there hoping it would finally reboot once for about 15mins but it never did. I was finally forced to hold the power button to reset the machine. After looking for info about this problem I have read that similar issues can be caused by problems with frequency settings but I am not well versed enough to understand much more than that. Is there maybe some way I can set everything back to defaults or reset the bios back to its initial state in hopes of clearly up any issue? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a screenshot of what my bios looks like in EZmode. This is NOT my PC, just a screenshot I found on google. I do not know how to take a screenshot of my bios screen. The option I am trying to turn on is the one to the far right with the flames on it under system performance. Thanks for your time.
