Additional Comments: I'm planning on building an HTPC running WMC 7 24/7 as an OTA 2 tuner HD DVR, and hopefully be able to use the same system to web browse, use MS Office, and occasioally edit home movies nativelly in AVCHD format. My first question is whether or not this is going to be possible an a budget of $850? Second, if it is, is the system I am proposing below work for my needs? Will I be able to overclock with the proposed low profile cooler? Any advice is welcome. I'm not new to technology but this is my first pc build from scratch.

I don't see gaming in the system usage, so I see little point on a motherboard with expansion slots for SLI/Crossfire, so yes I would say it's overkill.

You'll want low profile RAM as well so the heat sink won't conflict with any heat spreader.

Your SSD has too little capacity for my liking, you'll find it insufficient in the long run and the OS itself will more or less take half of the space.

PSU is overkill, a 500-550w unit would be more than enough to power up your whole system even under full load.

Onboard graphics would technically work, but I wouldn't go that way since your CPU will be under even more strain. Just get a discrete low-end entry level card like the 6670.

Thank you excella1221...I'll definately consider the motherboard and PSU. In your opinion though, will this system work well for my needs? Will i need to overclock the CPU?
